The most significant changes to the playing rules of camogie for some time were passed at the 2021 Virtual Camogie Congress today (10 April).  The rule changes which will come into effect one month from now are:

  • hand pass goals are banned
  • dropping the hurley is a foul
  • player taking a 20m free cannot cross 20m line to strike the ball
  • penalties will be one on one
  • a player fouled within her own 45m line may chose to take a quick free from the hand
  • goalkeepers may take a quick puck out
  • short socks may be worn but everyone on the team must wear short socks

Congress 2021

Congratulations to Outgoing Leinster Chair Hilda Breslin from Kildare (left) who has taken over as President of the Association and will serve for the next three years while former Association President Phyllis Breslin from Dublin was awarded the annual Síghle Nic an Ultaigh Award for outstanding service to the Association by an administrator.  Congratulations also to Cormac Ginty of Offaly who was unopposed for the position of Coaching & Games Representative to Ard Chomhairle.
