Laois Camogie has been going strong in the O’Moores County since the early 1900’s.
In the 50’s/60’s Laois had 18 clubs playing camogie from all ends of the county. Down through the years most of these clubs joined up together to form stronger memberships and to compete well in competitions. At present thereare 10 clubs . Laois schools performed well, with Mountmellick Convent winning an All-Ireland Colleges Senior Final in 1973. With the backbone of work in schools and in clubs, Laois County teams prospered.
Laois Camogie worked hard with underage development from U14 upwards and having success in these competitions through the years.
Laois U14 through the 90’s had great success in Leinster & in All Ireland Blitz Days, the U16’s in recent years succeed well and won their latest All Ireland Title in 2017. Minor teams competed well, and our Senior ladies won an All Ireland Premier Junior Title in 2015 after competing for it 3 years running.
